Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Packs in Features

Lately, it seems like the game has changed. Prices are trending down but with lower prices come fewer features. Including fewer features out of the box lets companies sell their base product for less. The problem this is causing is the overpricing of additional, sometimes necessary features. Microsoft has seen this shift and taken the opposite approach.

With Dynamics Business Central, you get all the features you rely on in your current accounting system plus some bonuses. 10 modules and over 150 features built-in, all in the base package. Being a Microsoft product also means you’ll most likely get connected to systems you already use like Office 365. Not to mention the Dynamics Business Central mobile app. So let’s unpack a little of what you get with just the basic license.

10 Modules, 150+ Features

Above you will see just a snapshot of what is included in the base version of Dynamics Business Central. But to be through, you get the following modules.

  • Financial Management
  • Advanced Financial Management
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • E-Services
  • Human Resource Management
  • Project Management
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Warehousing and Inventory
  • Other Features

You can also upgrade your license to add both Service Order Management and Manufacturing. The modules are rich with features and functionality beyond what you will find with any Microsoft on-premises solution. You can download the full list to see everything that has been packed into Microsoft’s cloud solution.

Keeping Systems Mobile

Another feature that users were clamoring for was some form of mobile use. To answer, Microsoft developed the Dynamics Business Central app which we highlighted in a previous blog. The app allows the user to send emails or make calls without leaving to open another screen. The core design allows the user to work in one space naturally, uninterrupted while still being connected. You have the ability to make notes, pull basic reports, and get insight into your financial data from anywhere you can bring your mobile device and have an internet connection. The app is also getting regular updates, adding features, and making improvements.

Making the Transition

Taking the next steps has never been easier. Microsoft, with the release of Dynamics GP 2018 R2, introduced the Intelligent Edge which we have also previously written about. If you have an on-premises Microsoft accounting system such as GP, SL, or NAV you can start using Business Central in just a few steps.

The intelligent cloud can do many things, but most important to accountants is what it does with your GP data. You can now upload all that data to the cloud to pull reports and create dashboards by harnessing the power Dynamics 365 Business Central, the latest in Microsoft accounting software. You also get special pricing if you are currently running a Microsoft on-prem system!
